Let’s talk about wedding planning. What comes to mind first when you hear the term, “wedding planning?” Is it the early stages where you’re starting to build out your dream team of wedding vendors, thus finding yourself touring venues, meeting with local vendors and so on? How about as the big day draws near? At this stage, you’ll likely be making the finishing touches and ensuring you didn’t forget anything on your to-do list. Odds are it will likely be a combination of these items and much more. Truth be told, “wedding planning” truly does encompass quite a few items and as you start to build out your wedding planning checklist, you’ll quickly see why this is the case!
For those of you who are familiar with our wedding blog, you probably already know that we like to cover a wide variety of wedding-related topics. Whether that be ideas and inspiration for engaged couples planning their wedding celebration, tips for selecting specific wedding vendors or anything else, there are definitely plenty of topics to discuss. Having said that, this week’s blog post will have a wedding planning-related theme and that happens to be the world of wedding decorations. As you can likely guess, “wedding decorations” is a rather vague category and encompasses a number of items. Throughout this week’s blog post, we’ll discuss a few different wedding decorations that you may want to consider for your own wedding. Who else is ready to talk about some marvelous wedding decoration ideas?!
Neon Signs
Particularly in the early stages of wedding planning, it doesn’t hurt to look around social media and other wedding websites for ideas on various aspects of a wedding day. From the ceremony and reception to the final send-off and everything else, there will be plenty of components to customize and it is definitely not a bad idea to look online for some inspiration! This will likely also help steer you in the direction of current trends and other popular ideas. With that all being said, one perfect example of a trendy and popular reception component is a neon sign, which will serve as our first idea on this blog post about wedding decorations.
So…why are neon signs such a popular component worth incorporating into your wedding celebration? For one, they can be the perfect backdrop to be used for photos, which is obviously a plus! Secondly, there are also so many different possibilities for the neon signs themselves and that is something we definitely LOVE about them. Couples could choose to go with a popular phrase for this, such as “Better Together” or “Happily Ever After.” I think it’s safe to say that you can’t go wrong with either of those, right? If you’re looking for something more personalized (like having your last name), there are vendors out there that can make this happen as well. Either way, the neon signs have become such a popular and trendy item for wedding receptions and we don’t see that changing anytime soon!
Get Creative with the Seating Chart Display
Are you or your partner someone that likes to let your creativity shine? If so, one area where you can do just that is with the seating chart displays. If you’ve attended any weddings over the last few years, you’ve likely had the opportunity to see a number of different displays. It is certainly one of many areas where you can add your own unique touch to your wedding. And even if you are struggling to come up with some ideas, you can rest assured knowing that social media is filled with potential ideas. Take a look through Etsy or Pinterest if you’re needing a little inspiration! Before we continue on to the next wedding decoration idea, I also wanted to mention that seating chart displays are another avenue in which you can match them to your wedding theme. Whether that be something vintage, rustic, modern, a chalkboard or anything else, the decision is entirely up to you!
Can’t Go Wrong with Candlelight!
Looking to add some elegance to your wedding celebration? If so, one component that you can’t go wrong with is candlelight. It certainly falls under the category of “wedding decorations” and will definitely also be something that you won’t regret incorporating into your wedding celebration. Whether it be for your wedding ceremony (it would be a MUST for anyone looking to do a twilight ceremony) or for the wedding reception (plenty of potential uses here), candlelight is one element more than capable of adding a touch of elegance.

Lean on the Expertise of Your Vendors
As we wrap up this week’s blog post, we will close it out by tying everything back together with an important aspect of wedding planning and that is the vendor selection stages. Unsurprisingly, there are several different vendors that will compose your complete wedding vendor dream team! Venue, photographer, florist, DJ and/or live band, cake creator, the list goes on. The reason why we’re finishing this blog post by talking about wedding vendors is because they will have an impact on the wedding decorations side of things too. While there can definitely be wedding decorations that you’ll need to come up with on your own, your vendors can also be an excellent source of ideas and inspiration. Let’s take a quick look at how this could be the case.
One area of wedding decorations for your reception will involve the tables where your guests will sit, as well as the head table. This will be a component that you can customize in several different ways. For one, you’ll have the opportunity to choose the color/style/material of the linens, which will impact the look of the room. In addition though, in the middle of these tables, decorations will be abundant. This includes the table numbers, floral arrangements, candlelight and so on. Some of these could be supplied by the venue itself, some by a rental company and of course, the floral arrangements would be the work of your florist. To sum it all up, your vendors will be involved in many different facets of your wedding celebration, so it is not a bad idea to lean on their expertise for the wedding decorations (especially if you’re hoping to achieve a certain theme/style for the wedding)!
