With the first official day of fall a little over a month away, it’s safe to say fall wedding season is right around the corner! Here at Madera Estates, our team has had the opportunity to host hundreds of weddings over the years. At the same time, these weddings have occurred during each of the seasons throughout the year and as you could likely guess, each season presents its own unique possibilities for what the wedding may entail. Whether that be the photo opportunities, where the ceremony and reception are held or a number of other items, there’s a reason why the actual wedding date you select is such a big decision! After all, it will obviously impact plenty of things, including the availability of venues and other vendors.
Having said all of that, you can probably guess what we will be discussing in this week’s blog post. Given that each season possesses its own unique qualities for weddings and the fall wedding season is quickly approaching, we are going to be breaking down a few of the things that we absolutely LOVE about fall wedding celebrations! For those couples who are tying the knot in fall of 2026, this will be perfect for gathering some ideas and inspiration. As for those couples whose wedding is a month or so away this fall, hopefully you can still learn a thing or two worth incorporating into your upcoming wedding! Now let’s discuss everything you need to know about the fall wedding season.
Hire a Qualified Photographer
Although we would recommend hiring a professional photographer for any wedding (no matter which season or month it takes place), there’s a simple reason as to why we’ve decided to start this week’s blog post with this point. One of the major reasons why the fall continues to be such a popular season for weddings is because of the stunning backdrops and all of the natural beauty you can incorporate into your wedding celebration, including the photos. After all, does it get much better than the leaves starting to change colors and all of the fall foliage throughout? Well, in order to capitalize on this, you’ll need a photographer with the skills needed to make sure the natural elements add to the magic of your wedding photos. To take it one step further, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to hire a photographer with experience working weddings at the particular venue you’ve selected. This will just help guarantee they’ll have an idea beforehand of the picture-perfect spots around the venue.
Don’t Forget About the Lovely Fall Florals
Just as an experienced photographer is a must for any wedding, the same can be said about florists too. Beautiful flowers go hand-in-hand with weddings, right? If you’re planning a fall wedding, you’ll be pleased to know there are a number of potential options when discussing fabulous fall florals. What are a few possibilities worth considering? Dahlias are undoubtedly a go-to flower for fall wedding season. Possessing some flexibility in terms of colors, couples will have no trouble incorporating this lovely flower into their fall wedding! Amaranthus is another in-season floral you may want to check out. It has a unique appearance and can serve a number of different roles on your wedding day.
How about a flower that’s not necessarily specific to the fall season, but can definitely be worth your consideration? That fits roses perfectly! After all, just about anyone would associate roses with weddings! By the way, you could even look to pair this wedding flower staple with another favorite like daisies. All in all, there are certainly no shortage of amazing options for flowers at your fall wedding!
Flowers will make an appearance on several aspects of a wedding celebration, so it’s definitely worth hiring an experienced florist. From the table centerpieces to bouquets, corsages, ceremony and so on, it’s always worth it to have beautiful flowers on full display on your special day!
Amazing Color Palettes
The process of planning a wedding will entail quite a few different decisions before the big day arrives. No surprises there! We’ve already hinted at a couple of aspects of the vendor selection stages with the photographer and florist. In addition, you’ll also have items like finalizing your guest list, creating a wedding website, sending out invitations and so on! Pertaining to the fall wedding season specifically though, we couldn’t finish this blog post without highlighting the amazing color palettes that couples have at their disposal. The color palette that you select can impact things like dress attire, decor and even the floral arrangements. Needless to say, it’s a decision that we recommend putting some thought into! Here are a few fall wedding colors that we always love seeing:
Stick with the Fall Staples – Why overthink it when the fall season has plenty of colors that everyone associates with fall? Burnt/dark orange is a terrific option that pairs with a number of different colors, including varying shades of yellow and brown. These will complement the natural backdrops flawlessly. By the way, fall is pumpkin spice season, right?
Looking for Something Different? – While you can’t go wrong with any of the classic fall wedding colors we mentioned above, there’s a reason why we’ve chosen to list “color palettes” as a whole in this blog post. And the reason for that is the abundance of possibilities. In addition to the fall staples, you might also consider emerald green, which is quickly becoming a fan favorite, and even dark reds, which can be perfect at adding a moody element.
Color Palettes for Any Season – The primary reason why we chose to talk about color palettes here is due to the fact that the fall season presents a number of unique options. However, it’s worth noting there are some color palettes that work year-round with black and white being the perfect example. A black-tie wedding is something you truly can’t go wrong with!
Align With Your Fall Wedding Theme – Lastly, why not consider aligning the color palette with the theme you’ve selected for the wedding. One potential fall theme that we’ve seen is a “Til Death Do Us Part” theme that can be perfect around Halloween time and is also capable of allowing for some creativity with color palettes!
