If you’re engaged, congratulations! This is such an exciting milestone in life! If you’re planning on hosting a big celebration, you have a lot on your to-do list. From booking a caterer to dress shopping, finding a photographer, and more, there are many tasks to knock off your checklist before your walk down the aisle. As someone who is newly engaged, the most common question you’ve likely received is in reference to when you’re tying the knot! Maybe you have no preference or perhaps you’re thinking about hosting your wedding on a holiday, such as New Year’s Eve. Themed weddings can make your celebration a unique experience for you and your guests! In this blog post, we’re sharing a few tips for pulling off an incredible and memorable New Years’ Eve Wedding! We hope that you enjoy and get a few useful tips for creating the wedding day you’ve always dreamed of.
1). Start Planning Early
New Year’s Eve is a surprisingly popular wedding date! If you want to pull off a New Year’s Eve wedding, you’re going to need to lock down all of your vendors ASAP! Start with your venue. After all, the venue’s availability will determine whether or not you can host your event on a specific day. From there, go ahead and book the caterer, photographer, videographer, florist, and more! Remember, you’re not only competing for vendors with other brides on New Year’s Eve, but also corporate events and other large bashes! Even hair & makeup teams and DJs are likely to be in high demand on New Year’s Eve! Book your wedding team as soon as possible!
2). Let Your VIP’s Know In Advance
Similarly to your vendors, you’re going to want to let your guests know about your wedding date well in advance. We recommend notifying your guests a year or more in advance. New Year’s Eve is a popular time for families to book vacations. You especially want to notify your VIP guests such as bridesmaids and groomsmen of your wedding day as soon as you sign a contract with your venue!
3). Add Some Sparkle
Now for the fun details! New Year’s Eve means sparkle, glitz, and glam! A New Year’s Eve wedding is the perfect excuse to go bold with linens, decor, floral design, and even attire. Silver and gold are great New Year’s Eve wedding accent colors, although you can definitely incorporate other pops of color! From the invitations to your shoes and more, don’t be afraid to add some sparkle!
4). Tasteful Themed Decor
Talk to your wedding planner and florist about how you can make your reception haul festive and tasteful. Consider sequin tablecloths and adding feathers into your floral arrangements. Add lots of candles throughout the ceremony and reception haul.
5). Get Your Guests To Participate!
Get your guests in on the fun! In the invitation, ask them to dress in their finest! Black tie weddings go hand in hand with New Years’ Eve weddings. After all, who doesn’t like to dress up for a night of fun?
6). Resolutions Board
Many people set resolutions for the new year. A resolutions board could be a fun activity for your guest to participate in. Have guests write their new year’s resolutions on a giant chalkboard. Or, have guests write their new year’s resolution down and then strike a pose with it in a photo booth! You could also have guests write in their new year’s resolutions in advance and display them on the table numbers. This is a great way for your guests to instantly have conversation topics!
7). Have An Open Bar
Don’t forget lots of bubbly! If you’re having a new years eve wedding, chances are high that your guests will be expecting alcohol. If you want to keep the party going all night long, you’re going to want to invest in that open bar!
8). Get Dance Props
Props make everything so much fun! From party blowers to hats, headbands, beaded necklaces, light up foam sticks, and confetti poppers, there are tons of ways to keep the dance floor poppin’! Don’t forget to hire an awesome DJ. Uplighting and a disco ball are also great ways to set the mood.
9). Surprise Entertainment
Consider having some surprise live entertainment! From jugglers to acrobats and characters on stilts, there are tons of ways to keep guests entertained all night long! Firework shows are also a great way to keep the party alive until midnight!
10). Fake The Late Send-Off
If you want to have a sparkler send-off, consider faking it before midnight! Many of your older relatives likely want to participate in the send-off but don’t want to stay up until the wee hours of the morning. Instead, have your send-off earlier in the evening. Have your DJ instruct everyone to come back and join the party once the sparklers are out!
11). Go Until Midnight!
Have a countdown to midnight! If you’re hosting a New Year’s Eve wedding, chances are high that guests are planning on ringing in the new year with you! Have the DJ count down the new year! Consider confetti cannons or a balloon drop as the clock strikes midnight!
12). Hire Reliable Transportation
Let’s face it, guests are likely to indulge in a few adult beverages at a New Year Eve wedding. Make sure everyone gets home safely! Many hotels will offer free shuttle services to their guests. You could also book a bus, or even notify Uber of your event beforehand. This way, they are sure to have plenty of drivers in your area when you need them! After a night full of fun, you definitely want to make sure that your guests get home safely!
13). Thank Your Vendors
Remember, your amazing team of vendors are giving up their holiday to make sure your big day goes off without a hitch! Be sure to thank your vendors for making your New Year’s Eve wedding unforgettable. A simple thank you card or email after the event would be truly appreciated.
