Where are you at in your wedding planning journey? If you and your partner are currently working on setting the framework for all of the details of your big day, then this blog post is going to be perfect for you! As you likely already know, wedding planning encompasses more than a few different items that you’ll complete in the months leading up to your special day. This includes everything from touring and booking your favorite wedding venue to finalizing your guest list and so many more fun activities. After all, it’s no surprise why we have plenty of wedding planning-related topics to discuss here on our wedding blog!

Are you new to our wedding venue? If so, we welcome you to Madera Estates. As a luxury wedding venue located in Conroe, TX, we have been able to work with hundreds of engaged couples over the years and help them craft every single detail of their “Best Day Ever.” Just as we mentioned in the opening paragraph, a major part of our wedding blog deals with the various different tasks that you’ll be completing throughout the planning stages. With this week’s blog post, we will be highlighting one of these wedding planning tasks and that happens to be the creation of your custom wedding website. We’ll review the different things you can put on the website, why it is worth creating one and so on!

Do I need a wedding website?

We’ll get things started with a rather straightforward question. Do you need a custom wedding website? Even though this is a wedding item that isn’t absolutely needed, it can definitely be a useful tool worth incorporating. The biggest reason why this is the case is it allows you to include several pieces of information on it, which we will get into more detail on later in this blog post. So…the short answer is yes, a wedding website is definitely worth it!

When should I create my custom wedding website?

Now that you know that a wedding website can be helpful, the next question revolves around timing. After all, we often encourage couples to utilize a timeline/checklist to ensure you’re staying on schedule and not missing any important items. Trust us, considering planning a wedding encompasses quite a few different things, having a guide to work off of can be extremely helpful! While every couple may have a different timeframe for their wedding and ultimately how much time they have for the various to-do’s, keep in mind that these are ballpark numbers. With that being said, a general guideline would have you create your wedding website around 10-11 months prior to your wedding with the goal being to have all of the details compiled by 4-5 months in-advance of the big day. This will ensure it’s ready to go by the time you send out invitations, where the wedding website can be mentioned on an insert (possibly by means of a QR code!).

Pro Tip: Want to plan ahead? If you have all of the main details ready by the time save-the-dates go out, then you could even mention it there too and you’ll be ahead of the game!

What should go on the custom wedding website?

When it comes to creating your wedding website, you are probably curious as to what you’ll be adding on the actual website, right? After all, it has to include some helpful information to make you want to create it in the first place. What all should you include on the wedding website?

All of the important details – Your wedding website should include all of the main details for your big day (once they’ve been finalized, that is). Location of ceremony/reception, timeline, transportation information on getting to the venue and parking details too! If you have guests traveling from out of town, any hotel blocks that you may have could go there as well.

Registry links – A wedding website is also the perfect platform to share your wedding registry links as well! By doing so, you won’t have to include a direct link to the registry in your invitations, but rather can just direct guests to the main wedding website.

Ability to RSVP – Looking for a way to streamline the RSVP process for guests? If so, add the ability for guests to RSVP digitally through your wedding website.

Make it personal – Lastly, a couple of other fun things you might want to consider would be engagement photos, and even a brief story about how you and your partner met.

How should we share our wedding website?

We already briefly talked about this question earlier in the blog post, but we still felt it deserved its own section. There are a few ways in which you can share your wedding website. An obvious one would be as an insert in your save-the-dates or wedding invitations. This way, you can add it to a separate sheet possibly with a QR code (to make it even easier) and send it to your guests. Another avenue that you may consider (which can be done in addition to what we just mentioned) would be to have family and close friends spread it as well. After all, the wedding website includes more than a few helpful pieces of information that you’ll want guests to have access to, so there’s no harm in spreading the link via text too!

Is it difficult to create a custom wedding website?

Nope! With the wedding planning process including more and more digital components nowadays, you’ll notice that the process of creating a custom wedding website is actually quite seamless. You don’t need to hire a website developer or have knowledge of coding to make this helpful wedding resource a reality! Creating a custom wedding website can be knocked out relatively quickly. The only thing that may take a little bit of time will involve adding all of the special details for your big day onto the website. However, we’re sure you’ll have no trouble getting that taken care of!

While there are several website builders online, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to start by looking through the ones provided by some of the bigger names in the wedding industry. Think of websites like The Knot, WeddingWire and Zola!
