If you take a look through our past blog posts, you’ll notice that many of them are focused around different stages of the wedding planning process. Whether that be in regards to those tasks that you’ll complete shortly after your engagement or ones that can wait until further down the road, there are certainly plenty of items that you’ll want to take care of in the months leading up to your big day. With this week’s blog post, we’re going to be viewing wedding planning from a more general perspective and walking through various wedding resources that can help make your entire wedding planning process as stress-free as possible!

For those stopping by our wedding blog for the very first time, welcome to Madera Estates! As evidenced above, wedding planning is something that is regularly discussed on our blog and will be involved with this week’s blog post as we review some helpful wedding resources. Before we do that though, we would like to provide you with a quick introduction in case you’re unfamiliar with our wedding venue. Madera Estates is a wedding venue located in Conroe, TX, just north of Houston and The Woodlands. Over the years, our team has hosted hundreds of weddings at our venue and we always look forward to working with engaged couples as they plan their “Best Day Ever!” If you would like to learn more about our wedding venue, don’t hesitate to fill out the form HERE to request a copy of our Pricing Guide or simply give us a call at (936) 441-9337. Now…on to a few wedding resources that you’ll want to incorporate into your planning process!

Checklist

With wedding planning, it’s safe to say there are certain items that are more time-sensitive than others. In other words, there are items that you won’t want to wait to complete, just as there are those that can be knocked out closer to the big day itself. Think of things like setting a general wedding budget and finalizing a wedding date as those that you’ll want to take care of right away. Meanwhile, other tasks, including creating a seating chart and ordering wedding favors, can wait until later.

Given the wide range of potential time frames, we always encourage couples to utilize a checklist broken down by month to ensure you stay on schedule and don’t forget any important items. As a side note, when couples book their wedding at Madera Estates, they are provided with access to our client portal. In this portal, you’ll find a number of resources, including a planning timeline! To sum it up, any form of checklist you can utilize to stay consistent (and organized) will be well worth it!

Social Media

In today’s digital world, couples have a bevy of wedding resources they are able to access within seconds and one of those is social media. As a wedding venue, we’ve seen the role social media has played with many different wedding professionals. Whether it be photographers, venues, florists, caterers or any other vendor, the wedding world is definitely very involved in social media and this can be an excellent resource for a couple of reasons.

First and foremost, it can be a great way to find potential vendors and get an idea of their work. You can find them from simply searching for a general category/hashtag or if you already have your venue booked, chances are they may tag vendors from particular weddings in the posts. In any case, this can be a great way to streamline the vendor selection process.

In addition to that, social media can also be perfect for gathering ideas and inspiration for your big day. In regards to planning out your wedding, one of the first things you’ll want to consider is the general theme that you’ll be going with. The theme that you select will help determine other important concepts like color palettes, decor and so on. If you’re struggling for ideas, Instagram and Pinterest can be excellent wedding resources. And if you find stuff you like, you’ll simply want to take a screenshot or save them and then share with your team of vendors. In the end, social media is something that’s becoming more and more prominent in the wedding world, and we don’t see that trend changing anytime soon.

Your Venue

Earlier in this blog post, we talked about why it’s so important to have a checklist and timeline to stay on schedule. Along with ensuring you’re not forgetting any important tasks, using a timeline as a resource will prevent any unnecessary stress too as you’ll know right away whether or not you’ve missed any items. With any wedding planning timeline that you find online, there is a pretty good chance that they will all emphasize touring (and selecting) a venue as one of the first items to complete. Why is this so important? The wedding venue rental will likely command a significant part of your wedding budget. Plus, wedding venues can get booked up months in-advance (especially for popular dates). Long story short, the wedding venue selection is most likely not something you’ll want to procrastinate on!

Given that you’ll be booking a venue early on, our list of wedding resources will have to include your team at the venue. They’ll be immensely helpful in a number of different planning elements. Struggling to come up with vendors that you can trust for your special day? Your wedding venue coordinator should have more than enough experience working with vendors from around town and can help steer you in the right direction. Not to mention, it’s also worth inquiring about all-inclusive wedding packages to further streamline this process. Need some ideas on what to include? Whether that be decorations, color palettes or even reception ideas, they’ll have witnessed more than a few weddings and probably can compile numerous potential options. All in all, you’ll want to finalize your wedding venue selection early on to both secure your favorite venue and add a wedding resource that can help answer any questions in the months leading up to the big day!
