As we often say here on our wedding blog, an important part of the wedding planning process is the ability to stay on schedule and avoid procrastinating along the way. Why is this so critical? Well, the simplest way to answer that question is to say that wedding planning includes more than a few to-do’s. Being able to have a guide (hopefully categorized by time) will be immensely helpful in ensuring your wedding matches exactly what you’ve envisioned!
With that being said, in our blog post this week, we are going to be discussing a wedding planning task that relates to something you’ll find yourself tackling early on in the planning process. And what might that be? Creating a general budget for your big day! Every couple wants to enjoy a stress-free wedding planning experience, right? No surprises there! In order to make this a reality, you’re not only going to want to stay on schedule throughout the entire process, but also have a budget set early on that you can utilize. This will give you a better idea of how much you can spend on the different vendors needed, as well as any other purchases you’ll find yourself making in the months ahead.
To take it one step further, it goes without saying that your wedding venue selection will occupy a significant portion of your budget. Being a wedding venue in Conroe, TX, we’ve had the opportunity to host hundreds of weddings over the years and are always excited to use our blog as a platform for sharing wedding planning resources. Throughout this blog post, we’ll answer the question of “What does booking a Houston wedding venue cost?” Not to mention, we will also review different things you’ll want to keep in mind during the booking process!
The Numbers
Prior to breaking down the details and specifics of what goes into a wedding venue selection, we first wanted to highlight some stats. And what better place is there to find these statistics than The Knot’s Real Weddings Study? After all, I’m pretty sure everyone is familiar with The Knot and their prevalence in the wedding industry. For their 2023 report, they surveyed close to 10,000 couples throughout the US and the average wedding cost in Houston came in at $37,000. To check out the 2026 report, click the link HERE. It’s filled with a lot of helpful information that is sure to be of use for couples currently planning their big day.
What Does Booking a Houston Wedding Venue Cost?
The Variables.
While the number above reflected an average wedding cost in Houston, this week’s blog post is going to be focused specifically on the venue aspect. After all, you’re likely well aware of the fact that planning a wedding will include building out your team of vendors. Photographer, videographer, caterer, florist, the list goes on! In terms of the Houston wedding venue cost itself, what are some of the variables capable of impacting the price?
Wedding Date – Did you know the actual wedding date that you and your partner select can also have an impact on the total price of your wedding, including the venue and other vendors you select? It’s true! Unsurprisingly, there are certain seasons and days of the week that tend to be more popular than others and as such, can come at a higher price tag. After all, wouldn’t you agree that Saturday is probably more popular for weddings than a weekday? That doesn’t mean you can’t have a weekday wedding, but rather that Saturday’s might be more expensive. The same can be said for seasons as well, especially depending on the geographic area where you get married (and the potential weather implications). All in all, the actual wedding date you pick can affect the cost of booking a Houston wedding venue!
Packages – Giving out an approximation for a Houston wedding venue cost is something that is easier said than done. Why is that the case? Along with the wedding date/season impacting the price, you can’t ignore the fact that every venue has different packages that couples can consider. For instance, this could include renting the venue for just the ceremony or just the reception (or both!).
Another topic worth discussing on this point would be the presence of all-inclusive packages and any customization available with those. Customizable all-inclusive packages are a terrific way to not only create your dream wedding, but also remove any unnecessary stress at the same time. Here’s a quick rundown as to why that is true. A major part of the planning process will undoubtedly involve building your team of vendors. After all, as we mentioned above, there are several vendors that will be involved in your wedding day. With an all-inclusive package, you can secure reliable wedding professionals and streamline the process as well. It’s not difficult to see how it could be time-consuming and potentially stressful to research, meet with and select each individual vendor. With all-inclusive packages, you’re able to pick the venue’s included vendors for the different aspects of your celebration. And if these are customizable, that’s even better as some couples may have another vendor they prefer for a particular category. To sum it all up, there’s no denying that the varying types of wedding packages will impact your venue (and total wedding) cost.
Don’t Wait to Tour and Book Your Wedding Venue.
As we conclude this week’s blog post, we wanted to make a point to emphasize the importance of avoiding procrastination on the venue selection stage. The reason for this? Venues can get booked up months in-advance, especially on popular dates/seasons. It goes without saying that the venue will have a major role in the big day itself. Having said that, you don’t want to miss out on your favorite wedding venue for the sole reason of them already being booked up on the date you’ve selected, right? After celebrating the exciting engagement news with your family and friends, you’ll want to map out a general budget for the big day and then you can hit the ground running with the venue selection process. You’ll want to check out venues on social media, read reviews online and start scheduling tours. Plus, if you have any friends or family that have recently tied the knot, it wouldn’t hurt to ask them for any ideas or recommendations they may have! In the end, we just encourage you to avoid procrastinating on this important step in the overall planning process.
