Stay Positive, It’s Going To Be Okay!

First of all, let’s acknowledge the disappointment that the Coronavirus has caused. This situation totally sucks and we’re sorry that you’re going through it. You’ve likely experienced a ton of stress, and maybe even a few tears. Just know, it’s all going to be okay! At this point, the very best thing you can do for yourself is to stay positive! After all, in the end, you’ll get to have a beautiful wedding celebration and marry the love of your life! Keep your chin up and know that everything will work out.

Adapt, Set A New Date & Let Your Guests Know ASAP

Now that you’ve accepted the wedding will be postponed due to the Coronavirus, it’s time to be proactive with setting a new date. First and foremost, speak with your venue to determine their availability. They’ll likely offer you a couple of different options, though you might have to get a little creative. Don’t rule out Sundays or weekdays right away! We’ve hosted plenty of weddings throughout the week, and they’ve all turned out beautifully. Plus, these dates will likely be easier for the rest of your vendors to accommodate.

Once your venue has provided you with a few new date options, reach out to the rest of your vendors such as your photographer, videographer, florist, and caterer. Perhaps you may want to include them all in the same email to avoid any confusion. You can use an online polling tool, such as SurveyMonkey, to help coordinate a new date that works for everyone. For the most part, all of your vendors will likely do everything they can to reschedule!

With a new date set, be sure to notify your guests right away. It’s best to provide everyone with as much notice as possible, as they’ll likely have to rework their schedule to attend. On the bright side, your out of town guests may be able to get a discounted rate on their flights. Airlines are currently offering great discounts to passengers who book early during this pandemic.

Understand That Your Vendors Hate This Too

Relax, breathe, and understand that you may have to make some changes to your original plan. Your vendors are likely rescheduling several other weddings. As you’re probably well aware, most vendors get booked a year or more in advance. Not only are vendors having to juggle their previously booked reservations, but now they’re also having to coordinate new dates with postponed weddings. Unfortunately, there may be some vendors that you’ll have to find alternatives to. Know that everyone is doing their best to be accommodative during this challenging time. Be kind and accepting if you need to find a plan B alternative.

The best thing you can do is be proactive and get the ball rolling as soon as possible! In the event that a vendor can not accommodate any of your new date options, have compassion, and move forward. The last thing you want to do is dwell on circumstances you can’t change.

Use This Extra Time To Your Advantage!

Perhaps, due to the Coronavirus, you’ve postponed your wedding a few months. Use this extra time to your advantage! Are there any DIY projects that you now have time to complete? Maybe you can save up for a few extras such as a firework show or live entertainment. Perhaps you’d even like to shed a few pounds or get a little more toned? Think of this extension as bonus time to your wedding planning! You’ll likely come up with a few more ideas that will make your wedding even more special and fabulous.

Get Creative With Wedding Elements

Everyone likes a little humor. Get creative with wedding elements! For example, your party favors could be mini bottles of Germ-X or even Corona Beer bottle openers. You can even take cute quarantine selfies (completed with masks and gloves) to announce your new wedding date on social media. Embrace the challenge with a smile and a positive attitude!

You Still Get To Marry The Love Of Your Life

Most importantly, at the end of all this chaos, know that you still get to marry the love of your life! Wedding days come and go, but your spouse will stand by your side forever. Not to mention, this will be a great story to tell your grandkids one day!
