We love getting to help couples celebrate the best days of their lives! After working with hundreds of engaged couples, we’ve learned quite a few tips when it comes to planning weddings. Our experts compiled a list of the best ways you can avoid wedding planning anxiety! We hope that you enjoy reading!

1). Know You’re Not Alone

First of all, know that it’s completely normal to feel a certain level of anxiety or stress while planning your wedding. It’s easy to get caught up in all the details. From the menu cards to the programs, favors, seating chart, and much more, there are a lot of things to check off your to-do list before the big day arrives! It can be hard to juggle a fulltime job, maintain your social obligations, and plan a wedding. As long as your nerves aren’t cold feet, understand that it’s completely normal to feel a little overwhelmed!

2). Remember, It’s YOUR Day!

When you find yourself getting anxious, remember that this is YOUR wedding day! Oftentimes we can all get so caught up trying to impress our guests that we lose sight of what’s most important. The reality is that most people aren’t going to see every little detail on the wedding day. They’re likely focusing on you and your partner! Focus on what’s important to you, and don’t worry too much about the small stuff!

3). Communicate With Your Partner

In terms of wedding planning, there’s usually one partner that is very involved in the process and one that sits on the sidelines. If you are the one planning every aspect of your wedding day, don’t hesitate to ask your partner for some help! They can’t read your mind! Consider organizing date nights that help you check off items on your t0-do list.

4). Be Honest About Your Finances

One of the quickest ways to have wedding planning stress is to spend more than within your means. As awesome as a budget-free wedding sounds, this likely isn’t the case for most people. Set a realistic budget that you know you are comfortable spending. If you’re going over budget, ask yourself if it’s really worth the financial stress.

5). Plan Out A Timeline

We understand that you have a lot to check off your to-do list. Give yourself realistic goal dates to complete each task. There are several planner books and online resources that will provide you with a wedding planning checklist. Map out a timeline so you’re not overwhelmed and waiting until the last minute to complete everything!

6) Book Vendors You Trust

Working with professional vendors will save you so much stress in the long run. Your wedding day is not the time for you to let your cousin play around with their new DSLR. Spend the extra money and book reliable vendors that have been in the industry and have great customer reviews!

7). Pretend You’re Getting Married Sooner

Move your wedding date up a month on paper! Aim to get everything wedding planning related done a month prior to your wedding. You’ll be much more relaxed in the weeks leading up to your big day. Procrastination is a sure-fire way to increase wedding planning anxiety.

8). Make It Easy For Your Guests (And For You)

Be communicative and clear with your guests. The last thing you want is 100 people asking you the same questions over and over again. Be clear about the location and times on your wedding invitations. Consider creating a wedding website that has your registry information, the wedding timeline, nearby hotel accommodations, dining and entertainment options for out of town guests, and so on.

9). De Decisive

Nothing is more annoying than someone who can’t make up their mind. Don’t meet with your florist, baker, or other vendors, until you have a clear vision of what you want. If you have trouble making decisions, bring someone along with you who can offer some guidance. Your vendors want you to be able to communicate exactly what you’re looking for!

10). Don’t Compare

Comparison is the thief of joy. If scrolling through Pinterest or Instagram is making you feel inferior, you should probably avoid searching on these platforms.

11). Ask Friends & Family For Help

Your friends and family are likely ready and more than willing to help! If you have some DIY’s that you’re wanting to do, make a fun girls night out of it! You’ll have a blast making memories with those you love most while checking off items on your wedding planning checklist!

12). Consider Outsourcing To Experts

A lot of people don’t hire wedding planners or day-of coordinators because they think they can handle it all themselves. If you want to avoid wedding planning stress, and make the big day go as smoothly as possible, consider hiring some professional help!

13). Treat Yourself To Some Self-Care

It’s okay to be stressed out. Build some self-care into your wedding planning routine. After you complete a big task, reward yourself with a fun treat! Whether it’s a mani/pedi, a massage, or a shopping trip, remember to give yourself a moment to have fun and unwind!

14). Decide To Enjoy It

You know what they say, mindset is everything! Decide to enjoy the hectic wedding planning process. After all, you only have to do it once! Before you know it your wedding day will be here. Soak in the moment and choose joy over stress!
